University of Akron – Chihuly Sculpture

Based on the Fibonacci sequence of numbers found throughout natural systems, such as the spiral of the nautilus shell, the ground plane design of three spiraling, ascending concrete walls describe the union of molecules and ideas that came together to form Dale Chihuly’s centerpiece polymer glass sculpture. A pathway runs between two of the walls allowing access and viewing from below the sculpture at many different angles. Accent lighting can be modulated to realize different textures, colors and intensity from the sculpture.
