St. Stephen Church Site ImprovementsBased on an original master plan by the Kent State University Urban Design Center, the redesign of the West 54th Street frontage was for the parish's church and school. The traditional German parish desired a 'plotz' styled treatment adaptable for large gatherings and special events. The sidewalk paving pattern echoes the interior tile pattern from the main church. Streetscape improvements include signage, lighting, and plantings. A driveway was eliminated and traffic redirected to create a safe pedestrian entry walk while improving views to the stately gothic architecture. |
