Oberlin College World War II Memorial

A contemplative garden in the heart of the Oberlin College adjacent to Finney Chapel is dedicated to the memory of WWII alumni veterans. Designed with artist Andrew MacEachren, this garden evokes the contemplative aura of a cloister. A 42" high sandstone wall constructed of stone from the same quarry as Finney Chapel defines the space. Bronze plaques with the veterans' names are inset into the wall. Flagstone paving, a bubbling fountain and benches are encircled with a border of red roses and lavender.
